In global GSMA survey ‘Children's use of mobile phones’, Denmark came first place for smartphone ownership rate per child, with 93% owning a smartphone by age 12. Our cultural programme, Photos with Thought, celebrated this.
Copenhagen City Council commissioned Culture Vulture founder Kim Morley to develop a cultural programme we called Photos with Thought; a fully booked series of 35 workshops on smartphone photography in collaboration with 16 Copenhagen state schools.
Rather than contributing to the on-going negative dialogue surrounding technology and youth, we utilised this reality.
Our kids shot, printed and exhibited their original photography in four photographic briefs; Abstraction, Portraiture, Perspective, Composition – concluding each activity by submitting a single image via SMS to be printed at fine art grade, exhibited and kept.
